Mine won't pay attention to just any animal on the TV, but they really notice when an animal is walking or running. I think they recognize the motion. And I've seen them go nuts barking at the TV when one animal is chasing another, like a lion chasing after an antelope or something. I wonder if they are thinking "hurry!!! run faster!!! get away!!!" or "hurry!!! catch it!! kill it!!! eat it!!!"
