If you do not want her to be pregnant you could have her spayed now. Please consider this option. Take her to your vet and have a very serious discussion about this. Also, if she is small and the male is large her life could be in danger and the need for a csection would be greatly increased. Where are you located at in Chicago? I'm also from the Chicago area and know of a few low cost spay programs. One is my personal vet who accept the PAWS spay/neuter certificate. If you need help please just ask.
