I have taken my dog outside and have pads in the house. I want him to do both. It's cold here and we haven't been out for a while either. But I'm going to start taking him out again. We are going to go out for just a few minutes - and if he goes the bathroom, great! - and if he doesn't, he'll have to come back inside and have to use the pee pad.

I have noticed that when my dogs have to go to the bathroom - they go almost immediately when I take them outside. Be sure and always take him to the same spot outside - he'll smell where he has gone before and usually go quickly if he needs to.

PS: My puppy is a little less than perfect about using the pee pads in the house. If he is confined to an area, he will use them. If he isn't --he'd just as soon go anyplace. We're working on it though...
