We had a Yorkie a while back that we rescued when he was 2yrs old. It never made much sense to us, but he was not interested in playing for a long time. We finally gave up on trying to convince him that playing was fun. Then a year or so later someone came over with a toy she bought for her Boston Terrier. When she demonstrated the squeaking sound it made, our lil guy went crazy over it. After that he enjoyed squeaky toys as long as someone else was playing with him.
Even though his was a case of getting used to us and learning to be a puppy, there is still a chance Holly will learn to like toys- whether they be store-bought or sticks, bugs, and leaves. Just give her time
