NEVER, NEVER GIVE OXYTOCIN UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN VERY THOUROUGH INSTRUCTIONS BY YOUR VET!! Improper use of Oxy can and has killed the mom. If she has not dilated and it is given, the uterus can rupture..literally explode. The dosage is very specific and as Pat said, NOT TO BE USED LIGHTLY!!!!! And, all could have been prevented if only the person knew their own limitations..
