Great answer!

Small dogs can dehydrate very quickly. Lady had a spell of diarrhea a few years ago on a Saturday. I gave her Immodium and it stopped, but the next day she still wasn't eating or drinking water so I took her to the ER vet. She was so dehydrated that they told me she was in danger of cardiac arrest from electrolyte imbalance! She is eight pounds, too.
