Have you noticed his nose running? If he has a cold, I would think his nose would be running.

Do you have any liquid cherry-flavored children's benedryl on hand? You could give some of that to see if it alleviates the throat. Or even a tablet form? Here are dosing instructions.

Perhaps you need to hit the vet with both of them tomorrow. I don't know about separating them. It doesn't sound like a cold to me, but it's hard for me to say.
