Sundays I've found is a good day to meet pets, particularly in large pet stores.

Also do a google search, see if there are other groups, that may either include dogs, or be actually for dogs. Do you have a hiking association in Nova Scotia, cause many let dogs come on the walks.

Also look at training places, sometimes once a months or so, they may have a small dog meet-up which is often "free".
