Thank you so much for posting this information. I had no idea! I read when your Poppy ate the slug and thought -- no worries. Good that you decided to check on it. I am adding this to all of the many hazards my backyard can hold for my pups. Yet another reason they should never be let outside alone. Just too many things that can hurt them! Think if a person doesn't see their dog eat a slug and then a while later they come down with symptoms. They might not find out for some time that lung worms are the culprit. Finding out late, could mean a fatal outcome! We have cow killer ants, several poisonous snakes, fire ants, bees, wasps, hawks, and now slugs to worry about. Glad mine are mostly house dogs.
