It's probably not well known. Twelve to fourteen dollars an hour is pretty average. So get a bit more. Many get less.
I met two recently. One was thinking about going into nursing. She loves her job, but it's not enough to live on. The other works two jobs (one tech position during the day and another overnight at an ER facility) to get by.
And then there are vets who don't make nearly enough too. I know one of them graduated vet schools 17 years ago and is still paying student loans! Not uncommon.
