I recently had Copper groomed for the 1st time. I had been doing it myself up until then. I visited several groomers with the dog in hand and asked them if I could observe. The ones that said no, I avoided. I found one lady who agreed, but said that if Copper was not cooperative while I was there, would I mind stepping out. I have worked with small children for years and know how they can misbehave when parents are in the room, so I got that and agreed.
Well, Copper was a wild man, but not because I was there. (The dryers were going loudly in the back and that set him off.) Copper's neck is so small he kept slipping out of the leash. I told the groomer I would do anything to help. She let me hold his hind end while she groomed the front and the front while she groomed the back. I didn't mind at all and in the process got to know the groomer. It was a great experience and I'm happy with the results and the groomer. I loved being able to participate!
