congrats..i think you did the right thing...
thinking out loud a bit on the fact that the pup was purchased at a pet store which means they purchased from a puppy mill...
buying the puppy keeps the pm going, right?
not buying doesnt keep it going?
i would think that if one doesnt sell or dies that they would cast it off and just replace it with another..so then the cycle still doesnt end.
and a pet store is a business and they operate like a business...if selling puppies makes them money they see $$ and they are happy..whether its ethical or not. we see that EVERYWHERE and we cant/dont fight it
im not saying its right
but the only way to stop puppy mills is stop the puppy mills..not the buyers, not the pet stores..
so when you are in the pet store and there is a puppy, that puppy has 2 life courses...go home with someone who will most likely love and care for it (doubting any one who spends large sums of $$$ will drop it off or not love it) or it can die one way or another. either way another is waiting to take its place
educating is good thing but put any one with a heart that sees a needing puppy is going to do the RIGHT thing which is what i believe the op did..purchasing the pup is not condoning the puppy miller, its not about the puppy miller at that point in time.
