I have always, always wanted to carry a minimum - like how you do, but I'm just too neurotic. If I go out for dinner or an event or whatever - I do carry a teensy little purse for the night. So proud of self at those times !
Honestly, I used to carry a large purse and started having serious shoulder and neck pain (this was in addition to my migraines!). I actually downsized purses a couple of times, and they would still be overfilled and heavy. I have trained myself to carry only my Coach clutch and it has absolutely freed me...I just love that I can't put anything else in it and have nothing pulling on my shoulder!

Edited to say: I DO have all of the "what if"'s or "just in case"'s in a small duffle bag in my car. Then I'm not too worried I'll be without the handwipes, Kleenex, tampons, etc.
