I had to get a new brush (lost Sydney's other one). After researching, I decided not to get another slicker, but I also didn't want to spend a fortune. I ended up with the Safari small pin brush ($4 at the local pet store). The metal tips are rounded (not coated in plastic, which can cause tangles). I used it on my own head and it didn't hurt. I used it on Sydney and it worked great! She has a silky coat that I keep trimmed. She doesn't have thick hair, and she doesn't shed very much, but the brush is great for keeping away knots.
