There is actually only 1 pet store locally (for me) that sells animals, aside from fish and such. Needless to say that is not my pet store of choice. The 2 that I go to have the local shelter's there every Sunday for 4 hours for adoptions .

I went to Lawrence, Kansas last year and the mall there had several breeds for sale! I mostly think it is sad that the store OWNERS want to support puppy mills. I would think they would have a conscience.
