This is probably a very exciting time for you - expecting your first litter - but when you have questions on breeding, my advice would be to ask it here on YT. You will definitely get more knowledge and insight from people who breed these tiny toy breeds - and your vet does not.
I could not agree with you more! That is not to discredit or undermind what a vet advises, but there is a certain area of experience and knowledge in regards to SPECIFICALLY Yorkies that an experienced breeder provide you with that a vet cannot. Vets have a very wide knowledge base on dogs in general...the basic textbook stuff. But think about it this way: We all realize how much sheer information and 'need to know' stuff there is out there on Yorkies alone. And we (as YTers/owners) know more than the next person because we immerse ourselves in the breed. That same amount of information and specifics is out there for every single breed of dog. Could you really expect a vet to have that kind of experience and knoweldge base for every single breed out there?

Again, great medical and overall textbook knowledge base, but more than likely, breeders working with Yorkies and Yorkies alone are going to be far more knowledgeable in other areas. Both vet AND mentor combined are really key.
