What a cool idea! My husband might kill me if I made the fur babies one, but right now they have a full (huge) drawer in the nursery, and soon the skin baby will be moving in.
My suggestion would be to go to a Millworks-type store with unfinished furniture. I bet you could find something that you could adapt to fit your needs. Post pictures when you make it!!
