I think the pedialyte is used to take place of the water according to her posting. It is used when babies have been vomited or have diarrhea in place of other liquids. So, I assume that is why the vet says withhold water. Because withholding water would dehydrate our babies I would think. But the Pedialyte keeps that from happening.
