I don't think food stamps is the right program to pay for this cost. But then I also think that food stamps should be used to pay for junk food, either.
I do think that the cost of food and veterinary care for certified service dogs should be covered by some very controlled program for disabled people who can't afford it. Even if you set aside compassion (which is very important in my book), I bet that disabled people with service dogs have a better quality of life and ultimately cost the taxpayer less than those who don't have them. |
