That is way cute. But let me tell you about an experience I had buying embroidery designs on eBay. When I first got my machine, I ordered designs from half a dozen eBay sellers. Not having had prior experience, I thought I was buying original designs, but a couple of the discs I received were clearly copies of designs from many commercial companies mixed with junk. I was a little afraid of those discs so I wrote off the few dollars I paid as a learning experience and threw them out.
About a year later, I got a letter from the Embroidery Software Protection Coalition saying that an eBay seller they had sued for piracy had turned over my name as a customer and threatening me with litigation if I did not immediately pay them $600, and sign a letter admitting that I had stolen designs. I wasn't about to admit guilt when I had acted in good faith, so I had a consultation with an intellectual property attorney who said I had done nothing wrong, especially since I had disposed of the discs. Cost me $300 to have him send the ESPC a letter citing the law and advising that any further correspondence go through him. Apparently this ESPC is in the business of extorting money from people with these threats and they do not follow through with those who fight back.
So -- needless to say, I don't buy software/designs of any type on eBay any more. But I will search eBay to see if I can find out who the designs belong to and buy directly from them. |
