Mason used to tear up the pads too. He would only do it when I leave him alone at home. I bought the frame like Courtney described - it worked a little but Mason could still tear up the pad if he wanted to. The key is to keep your puppy busy. It seemed to me that Mason only shredded the pad when he was home alone and bored. SO I started leaving toys that kept him occupied (I recommend Kong) and he eventually stopped. He has not touched the pad in at least 3 months.....
