I kind of agree with Roccosmommy - 9 hrs is a long time during the day to be crated. Most dogs can hold it that long during the night - but during the day is a different story. I keep mine (I have 2) in the laundry area at night and when I am not at home with peepads down. When I get to them in the morning the peepad has quite a few spots on it and its not even 9 hours.

Also, are you sure that the crate is not too big? There should only be enough room for them to stand and turn around.

Anyway, yorkies sometimes take a long time to fully housebreak, sometimes it just doesn't happen. My Coco was 8 months old before she was 100% accident free. My 8 month old on the other hand has yet to grasp the concept.

Good luck to you.
