Have you practiced living him alone for little bits of time? Just so that it doesn't come as a surprise to him when the night comes that you'll be out for a few hours? The first time I left mine for longer than I ever did (never more than 1/2 hour), they got really clingy. My little ones follow me around the house all the time, but that day was something special
I leave the tv on, too, if I have to leave mine. Always lights if it's going to get dark before I get back!
