that's how I feel about mine as well

Your baby may just fall asleep until you get home. Don't forget to leave lights on for him so that he doesn't get scared. I did that the other day, not realizing that with this crazy weather, it gets dark quickly. When I got home a couple of hours later, the entire house was dark

They were soooo happy to see me that I thought they must have had the worst two hours of their life. Now, I leave the lights on (one on battery, in case we have a blackout) even if the sun is out, and the T.V.
Have you practiced living him alone for little bits of time? Just so that it doesn't come as a surprise to him when the night comes that you'll be out for a few hours? The first time I left mine for longer than I ever did (never more than 1/2 hour), they got really clingy. My little ones follow me around the house all the time, but that day was something special
