Hmmmm, my husband went into atrial fibrillation and he had been in it a couple of days before we got him to the hospital, and they shocked him out of it. That's been a couple of years ago though, so maybe the protocol has changed. They are giving him the shots in to keep his blood from clotting and causing a heart attack or a stroke. Both can happen in atrial fibrillation.
Your husband can't continue to have the irregular heart beats that you describe. Did they check his potassium? I'm sure they did, but high potassium can cause a rash and also very bad heart problems. I hope a cardiologist is seeing him - a good one - because he sounds like he is having lots of very serious problems, especially at 38 years old.
