Default Looking for a yorkie in chicagoland

Hello all,

A few months ago I was posting looking for new food for our Yorkie Fonzie...but, unfortunately he passed on July 2nd. He was 10 years old, suffered from a heart murmur and some other issues and passed away at the vet. They actually tried CPR and brought him back, only for him to have a seizure and pass. It was one of the hardest days/weeks that my fiance and I have had together.

My fiance and her mom used to breed for a while back way back and this was the pup that she kept as her pet.

It has been a few months, and we still aren't sure we are ready and may end up waiting until Spring. We both kind of think it's not easy bringing a very young pup out in the Chicago Winter....We think it may be easier and more comfortable for him/her to get used to us and the house and being able to be outside during the warmer months of the year.

Anyway, we are interested in starting to research and look for breeders and places (not mills) to look for a new pup to enter our family. We don't have a crazy amount of money and i'm not sure we could afford to spend 1000+...We plan on only feeding some of the best food (i'm a fan of royal Cannine) and keeping vet trips often and consistent. The approach we plan to take is a crate approach to help train and encourage a safe area for him/her to go to.

I've never searched for a a dog or anything and am just in the initial steps, but would be open to any suggestions/recommendations from local breeders or anyone on where to start the process.

I appreciate any feedback or thoughts, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask away.

Thanks!

Eric
