As most have said, reputable breeder don't release pups until around 12 weeks of age, and responsible owners won't accept anything otherwise. (Letting them go at 6 weeks is not even legal in many states.) So I'm glad that you are waiting longer. Hopefully the breeder will take note and rethink his/her practices.

As for food, that depends. Check out the Health and Diet sections for reviews and a list of the brands most preferred by YT members. For a while, you should keep you little one on the food she is being fed by the breeder until she is fully acclimated to her new home. In the meantime, see what companies will send you samples and research what food you think will be best. Do some trial and error runs and most importantly, switch her food gradually and not cold turkey.
