Is your male neutered? Personally and fortunately, now Toby only has to wear a belly band when we are gone for a few hours (just in case he can't hold it). Hopefully your dog will get to where he doesn't want to wear it and will learn to hold it. I have been told they don't like to be "wet" in their belly band. It sure did help teach Toby. He is a rescue and neutered and would mark when we first got him back in December but I can honestly say he hasn't pee'd in the house in months!
