Sam is sick :-( Hi all, it's been a while since i've posted but i need some advice and i know that when it comes to Yorkies you guys are the onees to come to.
I noticed last week that Sam had some bumps on his body, they reminded me of bug bits that humans would get. I thought it was fleas so I talked to the vet and he said that if it was fleas I would know because i was see them if i looked. Well i looked really well and there was nothing to be found. So i called back and talked to another dr in the office and he told me that it could be a food allergy since he was itching the bumps. It didn't make any sense since Sam's been eating the same food since i brought him home. He said it didn't matter that a dog can develop an allergy at anytime, he recommended a Natural dog food that was wheat free, Nature's Recipe. the first night (Saturday) i mixed some of the Natures with his regular food, he ate both without incident, same thing on Sunday...then on MOnday the little monkey picked all of the Natures kibble out of the bowl and ONLY at that, he would touch the old stuff. I thought it was hilarious and thought that it was a good sign that he really liked the new food. he seemed fine but I woke up around 430 am on Tuesday to him whining (that's what he does when he has to go potty, he never barks, just whines) I never turned on the light I just reached in, grabbed him and I took him out to potty and he peed, then i put him back in his crate and went back to bed. I wasn't in bed for 2 minutes when he started whining again...that is somehting he NEVER does, he always lays back down so i knew something wasn't right. I went into the kitchen and turned on the light, he was in the middle of dry heaving and i pulled him out so he could throw up on the tile floor instead of his bed. Then i noticed what had been going on while i was sleeping. there was vomit everywhere...at least 3 spots of food and a few spots of bile. I cleaned his bed and blankets and just cuddled him till i had to go back to work. He hasn't thrown up again but he won't eat either. He hasn't pooped since Monday night until about an hour ago when i checked on him on my lunch break but when he pooped it was pretty lose.
Do that's our story...do you think it's all because of the change in his food or does he have some sort of bug? he's not listless and he's drinking and peeing without a problem. I even got him to run a little while i was at lunch. Any thoughts would be grately apperciated.
Thanks,
Kristy and Sammy |
