Meat thermometers are cheap - good to have on hand. I check every piece of meat just to be sure. Chicken usually can be fully cooked by boiling in 15 mins. I'd tell him to defrost it first. He can put it in a ziplock bag (sealed) and run it under cold water and do a quick thaw..then boil the meat. Safest this way - you don't need to add anymore to your plate right now.
