I've got two boy pets at home, a boy yorkie and a boy cat. The cat is a fierce snuggler, trust me you've never been cuddled until Fatso gets a hold of you
, and then Rizzo (Yorkie) is much too energetic to even bother with snuggling/cuddling. But then again, he is still a puppy.
Both are awesome pets, and I've had female pets in the past that were also awesome. I think it's just up to the personality of the pet and what qualities you are looking for in it.
