I have one of each...Oliver was my first and when he was a year old we got Brooklyn (girl)...they get along wonderfully....always have! We also have a boy maltese that we got when Brooklyn was a year and all of them get along wonderfully.....i think either sex would be okay....but if you have a boy it might be fun for you to experience a girl or vice versa!
