I wash the brushes and combs in the same shampoo that I use on my pups. For tangle and mats, I carefully pull them apart with the end of a rat tail comb. Do this only if your dog accepts grooming well. Too dangerous on a wiggly dog. Hold the hair with one hand so that the skin isn't pulled and work the rat tail comb with your other hand.

I also use PetSilk Silk serum occasionally to loosen up a knot right before a bath.
