This sounds exactly like something my brother would do, they don't have small dogs, I bet he doesn't even have any children, they don't know what they are doing even if you tell them, next time instead of writing it out set out the right equipment show him how to use it and call and ask specifically what is going on or even remind him throughout the day. He probably really is sorry b/c he was clueless
and was trying to help.
