I wonder if moisture got in from rain. It shouldn't have happened if it was sealed correctly unless it was a lot of water. Since it's no longer under warrantee, it's probably not worth the cost of repairs, since it is expensive to repair just about any camera equipment. The cost of cameras have come down so much, so you can probably get something similar for a good amount less than what you paid for it. I love Nikon and will probably check them out if I get a point and shoot camera, but I think Canon is usually better for point and shoot cameras. Some of the Panasonic Lumix cameras are nice too. If you can see what you need to with the way it is and still compose a picture, I would just use the camera you have. If you decide to get another point and shoot camera, I would stay away from the ones that are 14 megapixels. When you are dealing with a small sensor, too many megapixels isn't a great idea. They keep making them with more megapixels because people think they are better, but I think having less is much better.
