First of all, I am so, so sorry to hear about Lily. We had a dog that was a puppy mill dog named Conan and he had congenitive heart problems all of his life. Long, story short, I kind of knew that he was going down hill. My husband dropped him off at our vet, whom I love. I got a call at work about 5 hours later and he had suffered a massive heart attack and died. I was in total shock. But my vet actually cracked open his chest and tried to hand-massage his heart to bring him back. I know in my heart that every possible thing was done to save his life, so I could move on, with peace, knowing that it was his time and God actually spared me because I know that I couldn't have handled coming home and finding him gone.
Find out all that you can because at least Conan was 10 yrs. old and had problems from the time that we got him. Lily was very young and you need answers so that you have closure.
