It takes a few tries before I can get a bow into Poppy's hair.
She usually lets me do it when she's sleepy and sitting on me knee, I stroke her head for a while so she gets used to me messing with her hair then put the bow in.
Straight away I distract her with a toy or treat and she seems to forget its there.
I agree that the grooming bands are best at first because they are light and they wont bother her as much as a bow, good luck!
