I call my Bassets "Twisted Sisters". We got them without knowing how high maintenance they are. Actually, we got one and when we had issues with her playing so hard, we went to get her sister so that she would have a playmate.
One of the sisters is a big chewer and has destroyed 3 cell phones (blackberry's) and at least 10 pairs of reading glasses. Dixie waits for me to leave my laptop and looks for anything I may have left out so that she can chew it. She grabs the contraband and heads for her crate to devour it.
Hang in there. They do slow down, but it might take until they are 3 years old. Mine are 4 years old now. They are like having toddlers. I can't leave them in the house alone. At night, they sleep in their crates. Basset Hounds can get into trouble in an empty rubber room!! |
