disclaimer: this post is just based on my experience and training- I have only had one litter.

I could hear heartbeats close to this time, but I have had training in it (nursing) the fast beats are the boys, slower are the girls (but the baby girls should be faster than the moms) When I first started listening to heartbeats they were just faint little taps- but eventually they grew stronger (as the babies grew)

I only had a 29 dollar stethoscope that we purchased at school... it also had a ped side, but I used the adult side.

It is hard to tell this early what you are hearing unless you have experience in it... I wouldn't worry at this point.

If you are concerned you can get an ultrasound or an xray- but I am not 100% sure on how far along she has to be for that.
