I bought a black light at Petsmart (or Petco). My husband used it when I had gone to the other room and when I came back in he told me that I just didn't want to know what it showed. I almost freaked out when I saw all the spots. But I read what was on the box and it said that "Optical bleaches found in most detergents and soap will flouresce a brillientt blue-whie, Lubrication oils and greases a green-white to blue white or brown. Pet contamination will appear as a weaker flourescence when compared to most of the other materials". Also to keep in mind that the spot under the capert...on the pad below...is 2 to 3 times larger than what is seen on the top of the carpet. I felt better knowing that most of the spots were from cleaners I used rather than urine. Maybe that is what you have too.
