Puppy bites people's hair! Hey everyone: Well, my little Gia picked up a bad habit! If someone has long hair and picks her up, or gets down on her level to play with her, she grabs it in her mouth and won't let go.
The cause of the problem isn't her fault. I went out of town for a week, and my mom watched her and thought it was a cute game to fling her ponytail and let the puppy chase it and bite it. Unfortunately, this is a very painful game - not to mention rude and bad manners.
I'm trying to work with her to teach her that she can't do that (at the expense of my poor scalp!) but I just can't seem to get her to understand that it's not a game.
I try to say "NO" firmly, but she just goes back for more. I try to yelp like a dog would, and I've tried to get up and "ignore" her for a while. But eventually when I get back on the floor to play with her, she goes after my ponytail again.
Can anyone advise me as to the best way to train her and "undo" the damage my mom caused? |
