Oh, I am SO sure she is feeling better. Avascular necrosis is very painful.

I still catch myself expecting overnight success when I have pups who have surgery. I have a little one now, Heidi, who had surgery on her knee eight weeks ago. She is still limping. I have to remind myself that she is only a tiny little thing and she was so used to carrying that leg and getting around just fine that it is habit. In time she will begin to use it. Rookie, one of my other fosters, is a perfect example. He came to me last October with a fractured leg that had been uncared for for six months. He had surgery to repair it and it is only recently that I have begun to notice that he no longer picks that leg up when running! I remember the vet telling me it could take as long as a year for him to regain full use.
