I hope this doesn't get you in trouble with some of the members on here. I say---go for it!! It's not like you were 12 or anything. (Sorry to all the 12 year olds!!) It appears that this is something you have wanted to do for a long time, and now you have the chance. Don't get the idea that's it's all fun tho. There's too much to worry about for it to all be fun!! Just make sure you have not only a mentor, but several people who'll want to help you. And a good vet. One that will be able to talk to you in words that you can understand. One that listens is way important too! If he/she doesn't listen, it can be a big communication gap and you will be very displeased!! It should be comfortating to go to the vet. Not stressful. Talk to the other people in the waiting room when you are at the vets. They will be able to give you a lot of information about the vet without not even really knowing it. And make your you have "plan 2", in case your regular vet is out of town or on vacation when you need him/her. Give your mommy dog lots of love when she's pregnant. She needs it. It's tough for her too ya know. What takes us humans 9 months to do, she only has 63-65 days to get done.
