instead of a crate; buy a playpen; it's a bit roomier and u can put his bed and food and pee pad in there; it's like a little room for them and they are confined; i got mine from petco and i think petsmart might have it too; it's a metal playpen with a gate that you can lock. it helped a lot when my dog was a puppy.
