I'm new to the Yorkie world - getting my first next month. Her parents are both champions -- but I don't think I really know exactly what that means. I reasoned that a puppy from parents of this quality would have a better chance of coming from healthy and well-cared for animals but the truth is I just fell in love as soon as I saw her and at that point it wouldn't really have mattered what her background was.

I've been doing a lot of web surfing and still have not come up with an understanding of exactly what being a champion means. I would sure appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Also -- I'd like to attend some shows and learn more about these things. My own dog will not be a show dog but I'm very interested in the whole business. How do you find out about events in your area (Southern California for me)?
