my family got a new chair - a recliner - from ikea recently. my yorkie, maggie, quickly decided that this was her new favorite place to hide under, so we had to block the area underneath it so she wouldn't get squashed when the recliner was pushed back and the mechanism underneath moved down. we blocked it off with some cardboard box tops.
HOWEVER - every time i change the recliner position, i hear this little rattling sound. finally i pulled out the box tops and checked. the chair is RAINING those little silica gel desiccant pellets! i vaccuumed them all up (while saying "NO NO NO" to maggie who kept trying to check them out) but every time i move the chair MORE COME OUT! in addition to wondering what on earth is going on, i am also scared that she will eat these little pellets and if they will be harmful to her, and what i should do if she eats them???
