Default What is considered to big...?

for breeding in male size? I get the idea that the smaller the male and the larger the female the better but what is too big in males? I had the notion to possibly breed Piper in the future but he's around 5-6 lbs. His dad was 5.5 lbs and he was used for breeding. I want to wait and see what his qualities are after he's a little older before I decide for sure but if his weight is already a negative factor then there is no point in even considering it. My vet says he's perfect but I'm not sure if he was just being kind. He said not to neuter him unless I was 100% certain because he said he was a "handsome little guy." That was before he topped the 5 lb mark. Need advice and opinions. Thanks so much!!
