You may recall I was one of the original people that posted here about my terrible experience purchasing an English Bulldog puppy (who is since dead from congenital defects) from Brushy Creek Kennel. I have spent the past several years trying to get the authorities to listen to my story (and have been contacted by dozens and dozens of people from around the country -- and even other countries -- telling me they had the exact same experience.) These were people who purchased many different kinds of breeds. I personally don't own a Yorkie, I just happened to find this posting. In addition, you might have seen me or heard my story as I was interviewed by Inside Edition and Fox News Houston. In addition, I was called to testify in the civil case that Lisa Bushman Mallory brought against David and Lisa Moore and Brushy Creek Kennel.

I thought I would chime in her to clear up any confusion about Ms. Bushman's involvement with Brushy Creek Kennel. She did not work for them. It is my understanding that she found out about 'the dark side' of his business and then immediately disconnected herself from him.

I only recently met Lisa when I flew to Texas to testify in the trial. I met her and was able to spend several days getting to know her in person, was in her home, met her family and friends, and her attorneys. I can attest that I did not see anything remotely resembling a puppymill, but rather a beautiful breeding facility for Cavaliers. She doesn't have many dogs, and she has this beautiful nursery where her babies are very well taken care of. Her dogs and her business are NOTHING like Brushy Creek Kennel or David and Lisa Moore's business.

I am not condoning brokering dogs in any sense, but I certainly wanted to clear up the confusion about who she is and what I believe she stands for. She spent so much money, time and effort trying to surface the ugly things David and Lisa Moore and Brushy Creek Kennels do to other people and animals. Her heart was in the right place.

Also, I wanted to clear up information on the court case and the different dollar amounts that were reported. Fox News and Inside Edition reported on different parts of the court case. So the actual numbers you saw were different because there were several different rulings in the case. There was actually another ruling in which BCK and the Moore's had to pay for Ms. Bushman's attorney's fees as well - I don't think either story picked that up. From what I can recall, this was in the $90-$100K range.

I'm happy to answer any questions or give you my opinions after having met both Lisa Bushman Mallory, having been to LMB Farm, and also having finally seen David and Lisa Moore in person in the courtroom, and seeing Hockley Texas. In addition, I met with the Sheriff and the lead investigator (in person) that serve the area in which the Moore's live. I also showed up at the DA's office to let them know my story.

I hope this helps. In the true spirit of an online thread, I wanted to be sure I had a chance to tell my side of this story as well.

Molly

P.S. Many thanks to Villette for keeping this discussion alive and for helping spread the word about this business.
I happened upon this site and found this conversation involving Lisa Bushman. I would just like to say that I have purchased two dogs from Lisa and a family member of mine also purchased a dog from her. All three dogs are beautiful, healthy, vivacious dogs! I've been to her property multiple times. Before I bought my first dog I made 3-4 visits to her property while trying to decide if Cavaliers were the dog for me. She has a beautiful "nursery" building on her property. It is an air conditioned building with separate cubicles for each new "family." Each 6x8 (or so) cubicle has a separate pet door with an individual yard. The puppies come to your house halfway house trained because of this set-up. They are well loved, well cared for dogs. With both dogs I bought from her, I was able to see both parents and at least two grandparents. I coincidentally was already using the same vet as Lisa uses (for a springer spaniel). The vet had nothing but terrific things to say about the health of her dogs. When I bought each dog, I had current vaccination records, AND she microchipped each one while I watched. Does ANY of this sound like an abusive breeder? I hope this further clears up her reputation on this thread.
