My little guy was able to climb out of the ex-pen, as well. I finally solved the problem by buying a 3 ft high Precision exercise pen, shaped it in a 4 x 4 square and purchased the available top. I purchased a couple of extra clips to be sure it was sturdy and the top wouldn't fall in. Works great. I can finally put him in there while we are at work and not worry.
