It is with great sadness that I post that Katie passed away on 9/14/2010 at the age of about 9.

She had had a dry cough for 2-3 weeks which our internist had treated with various antibiotics, she also had what we thought was a return of her inflammatory bowel disease about a week ago which resolved after giving her steroids.

Over this past weekend her cough got wetter and she was admitted to the animal hospital on 9/13 because it had gotten so bad. Despite iv antibiotics and fluids overnight her pneumonia got worse and she stopped breathing while my wife and I were visiting her. Based on the doctors advice at that time we elected to have her quickly euthanized.

A necropsy revealed what the Dr. called very diseased lungs, biposies are pending, hopefully they will give us an idea of what the cause was.

Katie was only with us for 3 years and 4 months, but she loved us for every single minute of that time and brough great joy to our lives.
